The Spirit of Determination

The word "stand" actually has several meanings: to continue, remain, hold, prevail, and persist.

The Amplified version of the Bible really brings this verse to light. It reads:
"...and having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place].

I like associating with people that will not give up, give in or give out. These kind of people have what I call "Pit-Bull faith," or a spirit of determination.

Let me explain how I came up with this term. I once heard the story of a man who owned a Pit-Bull puppy. This man would get his motorcycle friends together and take up bets on the "determination" of his puppy. He would take a Frisbee, get the dog to grab hold of it, then take the Frisbee and swing it around his head -- with the dog still attached! One final swing, and he would launch the dog and Frisbee combination into the air. When they hit the ground, guess what? The dog and the Frisbee were still one! Now, the man did all this before he got saved, but when all was said and done, the dog ended up with the Frisbee.

In contrast to the Pit-Bull, there is another type of dog I have noticed. This kind of dog barks so much that you would think it had a hold of something big. But in reality, the only thing this dog had was a loud bark. I call this "Chihuahua faith!"

You can believe and confess what God has promised you, but if you don't remain steadfast, unmovable and always abounding until the promise is fulfilled in your life, then your labor is wasted (1 Corinthians15:58)

Remember, "Winners never quit and quitters never win." Hold on tight to the promises of God, and be determined to WIN!
